This was our first time going to the Balloon Festival at Antelope Island.

It was really worth it too! We had a blast!

8th Birthday Party

Janessa's Grandma planned a surprise birthday breakfast with some of Janessa's best friends! Grandma picked them up at their houses and then they came over to get Janessa and take her to breakfast! She was sooooo excited! We went to the Cracker Barrell and the food was fantastic! Thanks Grandma for such a great idea!

I am bored out of my mind right now! It's a Friday night and there must be more to life than watching tv! I was about to go to bed (at 8:30) when I realized I should do something worth while. I have slacked tremendously on this blog thing. I really lost interest for a while and who knows maybe I will post all of 2009 then come back in 2011 and post for 2010. Did that make sense? My brain is tv mush!

So here goes....the following will be in complete random order and make no sense at all but the pictures will be fun! Keep your arms and legs inside and enjoy the ride!

This picture has an interesting story...and moral! Never take three kids to the Las Vegas strip with one stroller at 10:00 pm. We were exhausted! We parked at Treasure Island, Isaac fell asleep at the Mirage, we walked clear to the Bellagio with him in arms. Janessa's legs were hurting. We did the smartest thing ever! We hopped in a taxi and paid $10 to go 2 blocks back to the car! It was the best money I have ever spent on the strip!

I laid in my bed, not wanting to face another day. I pretended to sleep until 8:45 when I was awoken by Janessa. She told me they had a wonderful surprise for me. I had wondered what they could have been up to since they were being EXTREMELY quiet. I knew Lea was awake but I assumed the kids had all gone into Isaac's room and turned on a movie. Boy was I mistaken.
Janessa led me down the stairs with my eyes closed. We reached the kitchen and I opened my eyes as she yelled, "Tada!" There I saw the most scrumptious breakfast of all! A hard boiled egg, string cheese, and water! We were so lucky!
The kids knew Johnny & I have been trying to eat healthy, unfortunately we only had one hard boiled egg in the fridge. I was very relieved that they didn't try to make more! I just had to take pictures to show how darn sweet they are!

Just in case you cannot read the notes they say,

Christmas in Cali

"Harry Christmas" was the phrase we used on Christmas Day. It was the Harry Family Reunion in San Diego. Mom and Dad were generous enough to give us all a City Pass to three different parks for Christmas. We went to SeaWorld on Christmas Day, we got severely rained out, and for five days after that we got to go to the San Diego Zoo and also the Wild Animal Park. It was a BLAST! We had so much fun seeing the sights as well as just being together, and eating at our favorite restaurants! Here are some of the highlights of our trip! Keep in mind, John had the camera and when that happens there are WAY too many pictures of animals and not enough of the family!

Every Christmas we try to go down to SLC to see the lights at
Temple Square and spend the night in a hotel. The kids love
this tradition. This night we met my parents and sister for dinner
and a carriage ride around Gallivan Plaza. It was so fun!
We went to the hotel and swam and then woke up the next morning for
Christmas shopping! Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Harry for
making this tradition possible this year! We love you!

We went to Outback and had dinner for my birthday. It was a fun family event. I have no idea why my kids look like they are throwing up gang signs at the camera. The food was good and Janessa thought the bathrooms were the coolest she had ever seen.
Unfortunately after dinner we found out the sad news that our little two-year old niece, Emily, was diagnosed with Diabetes. We were so sad for her! She is doing pretty well now with her routine shots and is a trooper! We love her so much!

Johnny and I were lucky enough to go with Isaac on his first field trip with Preschool. We went to the Black Island Farms Pumpkin Patch. It was so cute and Isaac had a blast with his preschool friends! Lea had fun too.

While we were on the wagon ride with giddy, excited kids Johnny got a call from MarketStar offering him a job! What a time to accept a job! For those who don't know, John has been out of work for two months now. We were so excited to finally have a job offer after waiting for what seemed like FOREVER! Unfortunately we weren't able to scream and jump up and down while we were on the ride. Thank you M*!

Johnny and Isaac went four-wheeling up to the "B" in Bountiful yesterday. They had so much fun! They saw some deer, squirrels, birds (at least this is what Isaac told me, who knows what they really saw). I was glad that they took the camera with them and took some fun pictures! I was also glad that they came home safe! Oh, by the way, check out Isaac's outfit that he chose to wear! Hot Stuff!

Here are some pictures of Isaac's first day of Preschool. He was so ready to go! I was so nervous that he would be upset while he was at school but he did great! He drew a picture of his favorite animal (a spider) and his favorite color is green. I am just waiting for the day I pick him up from school and Ms. Tonya has some hilarious stories for me! He did tell me that the kids at his table were laughing at him, I asked him why, and he said because he was "just being so funny"! He told me that he was pretending to ride a horse and he fell off his chair. I asked him if Ms. Tonya got upset with him for doing that and he said, "No Ms. Tonya let's me do that all the time"! Ha! Boy he must already be the teachers' pet! He is such a good little guy and I sure missed him while he was gone- we have been together just the two of us for the past 2 years!

I can't believe my big girl is seven! She is such a sweet daughter! What a helper she has been to me this summer! What am I going to do when I have to actually get a diaper all by myself! I love Janessa and I am so glad that she was born first in our family! Only four more years until we have our built-in babysitter!

French Toast for her birthday breakfast, I was happy that I didn't have to go out and get doughnuts, which is usually what they request for breakfast. We remembered half-way through breakfast that we needed to have a candle in the French Toast!

We had Janessa's Princess Party the Saturday after her birthday. We had nine little girls, well Princesses, here for the "ball". Janessa wanted to play "hot and cold" so we hid the crown and each girl got a chance to find the crown. We had a dance-off and ate chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream (she takes after her mother).

Camping Trips

Happy 4th of July! We had our Trimming Family Reunion in Fruitland UT, near Strawberry Reservoir. It was 3 blissful days of dirt! We had so much fun, mainly because Johnny bought us a new four-wheeler! That was the highlight of our trip!

We were able to take a couple of days. We took Johnny's parent's trailer so that Lea could be warm. It was so nice of them to lend it to us. One good thing was that I decided that I can't live without a trailer if we are going to go camping anymore. I don't think I could ever camp in a tent again! These pictures were taken at Pineview Reservoir.The kids were bored and it was hard to do anything with Lea so we drove around and found a great park near Pineview, they played forever!

Janessa has requested a Wii for her birthday thanks to her Uncle Kevin. Janessa had so much fun with Kevin, Mindy, Tyler, and Lexi when they were here, but what she remembers most was their Wii. We decided to celebrate Isaac's birthday at the Cold Springs Trout Farm! It was a blast! The kids were going crazy catching fish and running all over the place! It was a perfect day and the area was gorgeous! Isaac loved EVERY present that he got and still talks about what a great party it was! Thanks to all who drove so far for a birthday party and for all the wonderful presents and memories!

Here are some cute pics of Lea taking a bath in the sink- I don't know if this is normal or something only my family has done! It seems a tradition to take a picture of the first bath in the sink though. Isaac says he remembers his bath in the sink, and since he has such an amazing memory I wouldn't doubt it if he does!

My mom and sister have been so good to come over and help me out. Sometimes I wish we could all live together in one big house- Hey mom, maybe now is the time for us to move in! Sometimes I think polygamy would have it's perks! Just kidding!

I have been so fortunate to have such wonderful neighbors, friends, and family that have helped us out! We have had some great meals brought in and some wonderful gifts too! Thanks to all who have been so great to us!

Our Little Angel

Isn't she just priceless? I sure think so! Lea is a good little baby. She is going to chunk up fast though since she eats a ton! She is a good sleeper at night and seems to have a pretty good routine so far. During the day it is a different story though, she gets kind of fussy and has a hard time sleeping. I guess I should be happy she will sleep 3-4 hours at night!
Mommy is having a hard time with nursing and I seem to have a small, but normal, bout with postpartum. I can cry at the drop of a hat- which if you know me, I normally can't even cry during a chick flick. But this too shall pass (hopefully soon though)!

Presenting.... Lea Kalei Trimming

Well she made it! Here is the story of how Lea's life began:
On Monday I was having contractions all day, they got worse around 6:00 pm and they were about 6-7 minutes apart. I called the hospital and told them my condition and told them I did not want to be sent home. They assured me that since it was my third baby that I would probably not be sent home. So we headed in. My mom and dad met us at the hospital and took Janessa and Isaac to sleep over at their house.

We arrived in Labor and Delivery around 9:30 pm and they started the process...I was dilated to a three and 80% effaced. After a half an hour of being monitored the nurse told me I could get up and walk around to see if I could make more progress. I pretty much ran, skipped, and jumped down the halls for 30 minutes to make ANYTHING happen. When she checked me again I was a 3.5. Since they like to you dilate a full cm I had to run the halls again- I told the nurse that I WAS NOT GOING HOME! I advised her that the last time I had to have my water broken and I went fast after that! So after two hours of being in the hospital I had only progressed 1/2 of a cm. She called the Dr. and luckily she said it was up to me whether I wanted to stay or not! I was finally admitted to the hospital.

After that it was smooth sailing! I had my epidural (not a chance without that thing), my water broken, and about 3 hours later Lea was born. I only had to push about 6-8 times and she was out! Lea was coming out posterior though (face up) and her heart rate dropped pretty fast. They had to get her out quick so that is probably why I didn't have to push much.

Lea Kalei wieghed in at 7 lbs 7 oz and was 21 inches long. She has beautiful long dark brown hair. She hasn't really opened her eyes much so we don't know if they will be light or dark. She doesn't really look like anyone in our family- just like our other kids, she has her very own look.
She is perfect in every way and we can't wait for you to be able to see her! We love her so much!

No Progress!

Alright! I am tired of being pregnant! I went to the Dr. again today and I am dilated to 1.5 and still 60% effaced! I can't stand it! I was very disappointed but what do you do? So if anyone has any suggestions as to how to get this baby out, please email me! I need to have her today!

General Conference

During General Conference I was unable to hear most of the talks because my kids were so hyper! I finally decided that the only way I was going to get them to calm down was to entertain them with something they don't get to do very often. I decided to let them do my hair and makeup. I had about two pounds of aerosol hairspray in my hair, glitter, and detangler (anything they could use to spray on my hair was fabulous)! Then my makeup was about 4 different shades of every color! My lips had 3 different colors on them- you can barely see my beautiful pink lips in one of the pictures. After they were done decorating me I decided they could use WASHABLE markers to decorate their sister! Boy was this a blast! They were giggling the whole time! This all took up about three talks during conference and the kids were actually hearing some of the talks too! It was a great idea! The marker came off pretty good too!

When Will Lea Be Here?

Okay, so we have come up with a name for this little baby of ours. We have decided on Lea, however, upon seeing her when she is born the name is subject to change without notice. We sure are excited though. A small update on "our" progress...last Tuesday (April 8th- 36 weeks) I was dilated to a whopping 1...this week (April 15th- 37 weeks) I was a whopping 1 again, I was 60% effaced though! Woo hoo! I don't know if hitting my two week early mark will happen again but I guess we can still be hopeful.

I am ready as far as the crib being up, diapers purchased, clothing washed, bags packed, etc. I don't now about being mentally ready. The thought of waking up every two hours in the middle of the night is haunting me. I know the kids are excited though. Isaac told my sister the other day that I had had the baby and she was out now! They are so funny about the whole thing.

ISAAC THE FISHERMAN

We decided to take Isaac on his first fishing trip to the trout farm! We caught some pretty fish as well as some good video! He loved every minute of it! He kept asking John if we had the "baits". I loved watching him fish too. This place was really cute for kids! It looks like dad just got his fishing buddy from now on and the girls will be left at home on the weekends!

Disneyland

We had so much fun in Disneyland! We went with John's brother, Donald, and his family. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more! Apart from lack of sleep, too much junk food, and so much entertainment packed into five days our kids did surprisingly well!

We got there on Monday Feb 11th at around 9:30 and quickly drove to the hotel where we changed out of our long pants and sweatshirts to shorts and short sleeve to head to Disneyland! The weather was amazing, about 80 degrees for two days! The rest of the time was like springtime in Utah, which is just fine with me!

Janessa's favorite ride was Alice in Wonderland. We coaxed her to go on a couple of rides that she didn't really want to but she did pretty well! Isaac was our adventurous one and would have gone on anything had he been a little taller! His favorite ride was Pirates of the Carribean- he still asks if he can go on it everyday!

Janessa got an autograph book for the characters to sign and when the trip was over and she hadn't gotten all the signatures we both came up with the brilliant idea for Mom to forge the rest! She thought I did a pretty good job of forging! Hopefully this example doesn't lead to any mischievousness on her part!

We had so much fun being with cousins and family while we were there! John was lucky to have Donald there to go on the BIG rides with, since I was a little incapacitated and couldn't go on some of the fun rides. I was glad he was able to act like a kid for most of the time- he needed it!

Last Day of Hula

Janessa had her last day of Hula lessons on Wednesday. I am VERY sad but I need to give her a break and let her do something new. She was so good at hula, she didn't really like taking Tahitian but as you can see by the video she did pretty well. I am proud of her for sticking with it for a full year. Maybe after a little break for a couple of months she will want to start back up again. She loves performing so maybe once the performances start up in the summer time we can jump back in. We also loved going to the annual Ili' O Polynesian Luau in July and we can't miss it this year! We are going to miss, Miss Malia and all of her hard work! We love her and her family!

Kristin mentioned in our Christmas letter my recent Antelope hunt last year. I thought I would post a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Here is a picture of my first Antelope, I harvested this fine buck with my Remington .270 WSM on the run at around 150yds, total luck!

Some say, shooting an Antelope on the run can ruin the meat. I think that may be true in this case. My Antelope really wasn't too tasty. However, my little brother came up with a great jerky recipe.

As brothers we all decided to take our Antelope to the taxidermist to have them shoulder mounted. Kristin really isn’t too excited about having a wild creature hanging over her bed! Odds are it will end up either in the basement or garage. Oh well!

BABY GIRL TRIMMING

So we found out we're having another little girl! I am so excited to get out all of my girl things! I hope she is just like her big sister too! We have a couple of names picked out, we're not totally sure yet. We've decided that her name will depend on her hair color. If she comes out with a lot of dark hair (like Isaac) her name will be Eva Kalei (ka-lay) and if she comes out with lighter hair she will be Lia Kalei. Of course time can change anything and I still have quite a while to go! We just purchased some white bunkbeds for Janessa's room. We will also have little Kalei in Janessa's room in the crib. The kids are so excited to have a sister, Isaac tells me everyday how much he loves his baby sister! They are going to be in for a fun ride- so will mom!

CHRISTMAS LETTER 2007

We hope this Christmas letter finds you all well and enjoying the holidays! We are doing great. This year has kept us as busy as ever.

John is finally done with school! He graduated on December 14th. We are so excited and don’t know what to do with all the extra time. I am sure John will find something to hunt or catch in his spare time. We are just excited to have him home more. I am so proud of him and his endurance through such a difficult task. John was able to go Antelope hunting this year and got a beautiful buck. He was so proud! The meat however was not so good. Oh well, I am not too disappointed! John recently left Marketstar and started a new job at a company called Ingenix. He is now selling medical coding books to Physicians offices, etc. It is a much tougher job than his previous one and he is trying to decide if the benefits outweigh the negative. He is a wonderful dad and still wrestles a lot with the kids. He and Isaac are good buddies. John is a primary teacher for the 6-7 year olds and he is great at it! We are sure proud of our daddy and we are so grateful for him too!

I (Kristin) am once again pregnant. Number three has given me a run for my money but I am finally feeling “normal”. I am 20 weeks (5 months) along now and we just found out that we are having another GIRL! I wanted this baby to be a surprise and not find out what the sex was but I was too impatient. I have kept myself busy, pretty much every day, trying to find something to eat that sounds decent. Now that I feel a little better I realize how neglected my house and my family have been. I have a lot of work ahead of me now. In my “spare” time my sister-in-law and I have been working on a little business selling our handmade cards. Right now we have almost 100 cards in a little sweet shop in Ogden. We are proud of our work and if anyone is in need of a darling card and you are near Ogden, feel free to stop in and buy one! I was just called to be in the Primary Presidency (2nd couns.) and I am enjoying it a lot. In January our whole family will be in Primary together; that will be fun!

Janessa (6) is the love of our life. She started first grade this year and is such a smart girl. She is a great reader and loves to do math. If you were to ask her what her favorite thing about school is she would say it is school lunch. She eats the same thing every day! Janessa is a wonderful helper to me! She was very concerned about me being pregnant and would make sure I got to choose where we ate out. She came up with some great names for the baby, Twinkle if it’s a girl and Storm if it’s a boy. She also brought up Russell and Louise. Janessa started taking Hula lessons this year and she is quite good! She picks things up pretty fast and can shake her hips pretty good too. She is getting a little burned out on it and wants to try cheerleading or ballet instead. We’ll see what we can do. Janessa is a wonderful daughter and big sister. She can’t wait to help with the new baby! We love her!

Isaac (3) Oh where do I begin!? Isaac keeps us either laughing hard or yelling harder. What a personality! Isaac still loves to play swords, cowboys, or football. He is such a sweet boy and is very caring about others. He is very protective of his sister, especially if she is getting in trouble. Isaac is a very brave warrior too. He has been going with me to watch all of the hula performances and is amazed by the boys that do the Haka (Maori warrior chant). He picked up the chant really fast and a couple of months later he was performing, at will, in front of hundreds of people. It really is amazing! Isaac has a very good memory and loves to memorize books. He is also very good at giving blessings. One day I was feeling really sick and he found me crying on the floor of my bedroom. He sweetly asked if I needed a blessing, I told him I would wait for daddy to come home. He insisted that he give me one. While he “got ready” Janessa came in too. They both put their hands on my head and Isaac said, “Mommy Trimming, by the thordian…” Janessa soon interrupted and said, “No Isaac, you have to say the Milky priesthood”. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Isaac has become mommy’s little helper at home too. We love to go to lunch together and yesterday while we were shopping at Wal-Mart he turned to me and said, “Mom, we’re on a date together, huh?” He is my little boyfriend.
Well, that is it for the Trimming clan. I am sure there is much that I am leaving out but I am pregnant and forgetful. We love you all and wish you a very Happy Holiday season!
